IGCSE
Heyy everyone
So did CIE's IGCSE and *hair flip* got an A* in all my subjects.
So yeah I'm just tryna help. Fr.
Now listen u dont need to get an A* to be happy with ur grades. If those are ur goals then u go girl. If those are not u still go girl.
But my mum always says "Always aim higher than what u can get. Then you will reach the farthest u can go. Now go make another omelette for me."
Now a major thing I would do before an exam is open a candidate response, the qp, the ms and the examiner report.
Do each question, check with the markscheme, check the candidate response and assess where u are and then the examiner report.
I love this so much: https://paper.sc/
Examiner reports are a really underrated resource and are REALLY HELPFUL.
Use the 'IGCSE' reddit and discord server
IGCSE Notes – Soumya Pandey
Here are some of the resources I used and each subject tips
Maths:
Past papers past papers past pAPERS PAST PAPERS PAST PA-
Girl i cant tell u enough
Also makes sure to learn all the calculator tricks including the linear equations one, differentiation (the only ones I can think off the top of my head)
Make sure to practice past papers have good time management. Calm down during the exam. It'll all be fine.
(trust me i went and got bangs cause i was depressed about the way i wrote the exam and here we are)
Sciences:
Use the examiner report tip. Always always use the syllabus of each subject. And ofc past papers

Phy:

Business:
Bs is one of the easist subjects cause of the repeated questions and the low thresholds. If there is one subject u wanna chose for fun let it be BS or EVM
EVM:
Smallest syllabus ever
Just do past papers you'll be fine
Ik everyone says that but thats cause its true
The same advice goes to ICT. Like the practicals are the easiest shit u can think of but a big mistake that people do is forget theory.
Study for theory and u get good marks.
English (1st language) :
My fav subject in IGCSE
It was sooo good
Always choose descriptive its just easier to score in
Go read books from good authors like Madelline Miller, Katherine Arden, and Ocean Vuong. Get phrases that u really like and copy them into a word document. Go through it before the exam and use it in the writing

AND THATS ALL
To everyone doing their GCSE's
All the best
Just remember that it isnt everything. Year 10 and 11 is all about finding urself and having the time of ur life. I sure as hell did. And at the end of the day these results dont matter half as much as u think. Its not that they're not important. Its just that there are more important things in the world.
Go live ur best life before the A level train hits.

Hi! Congratulations on your followers, you deserve it!
Can I request a sun and an eclipse on how to make friends? If you don't get time to answer, that's totally fine, IGCSEs come first :)
thank you bea!! sorry for responding so late, exams are killing me slowly
requests are here!!
ミ★ 𝚜𝚞𝚗 ★彡 - i'll write you a poem, either about you or about a subject of your choice
unfortunately you forgot to clarify what you want me to write a poem about, but i asked you im dms :) guys please dont forget to tell me what it should be about!!!
poem here (sorry its somewhat terrible 😭):
a very long time ago, a child looked to the stars as her father pointed and named each one. the stars winked in response. a fairly long time ago, a child looked to the stars, as his mother pointed and recalled her father. the stars remembered them. a score years ago, a child looked to the stars, and they told him about his father, long passed. they kept him company. eight years ago, a child looked to the stars, and whispered her secrets to them as her father watched. the stars kept her secrets safe. in a few years, a child will look to the stars and hear the whispers of their mother, from long ago, softly spoken to them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
ミ★ 𝚎𝚌𝚕𝚒𝚙𝚜𝚎 ★彡 - i'll give you big sister advice on literally anything. school drama, issues with parents, trauma, anything. trust me, i have advice on everything. (this is the only one where i'll accept anon)
how to make friends:
first, you gotta make your pick on who you wanna be friends with. you gotta see why you wanna be friends w them. the easiest thing here is choosing ppl who you have things in common with. that way, youll have something to talk about with them.
lets say you wanna be friends with that one girl in ur class bc she was reading agggtm. literally, bite the bullet and go talk to her. she wont think youre weird for talking, and you dont make friends by keeping to yourself and expecting others to come to you.
just walk up and say “i like your book / clothes” and continue the conversation from there. the best way to keep a conversation going is to ask questions. that way theyll keep answering. if theyre answering dryly, no biggie, just leave and dont think too hard abt it. if theyre responding well then thats amazing, keep talking. then after a few minutes of talking and already establishing a conversation, thats when you say your name and whatever else.
keep your tone casual, your expression slightly smiling, your shoulders relaxed, posture straight. the best tip for when ur just meeting someone is acting like youve known each other for ages. you might feel awkward but try ur best to not let it show. if it shows, thats okay. use your casual vocabulary instead of trying to be formal, thatll feel more familiar to a person. saying “dudeeee i LOVE that part when” etc or shit, thats gonna make them relax more bc its so much more natural-sounding
for me, im new at my school but became popular fairly quickly (despite being severely unpopular n bullied at my old school) just bc id do this stuff. smile at everyone, greet someone with a “hii” when you know them even if its js by name and face, drop compliments wherever you can, talk to people like youve known them ages, etc
lmk if you need any more help on this bc i learnt it all by trial and error so ik what works when making friends n meeting people 😭
28/11/2024
Okayyyy so it has definitely been a while, but I hope future me has the time to read through the entire rant that I'm going to put in here today to briefly sum up the last SEVEN (???) months somehow??
I'll start with today. Our sports day is this Saturday, and this is the first one I'm attending since ninth grade. Usually, that's the last year for everyone in our school to attend, since the teachers need extra time to prepare for IGCSEs and A levels the next three years, but our co-ordinator took pity on the passing batch of this year and decided to prepone it a little bit.
I'm running in the 200m flat race, and the thought is making my head spin into an anxious tornado. The last sports day I'd attended, I won this same race with almost 5 seconds until the girl behind me caught up, and it is definitely something I've bragged about endlessly. However, we have a bunch of new people now, and I'm sure I've slowed down a lot, and I am only crossing my fingers and praying to my lucky shoes that I can defend my title.
We had a mock sports day today, where we went to the ground to practice our march past and do the qualifying round for the interhouse tug of war competition. However, our school's extremely limited budget meant that the rope they were dupposed to be using tore immediately the second they started pulling on it, making all of us on the bleachers burst out in laughter.
I didn't even notice it, though, because I was too busy trying to sneak pebbles into the hoodie of the boy ahead of me. He didn't notice until I'd snuck in almost seven, but his friends beside him saw me and started laughing, tipping him off immediately. He puled his hood over to the side so that it was out of my reach, but that just made me try to sneak pebbles into the pockets of his hoodies instead. I was sooo sure I would be caught immediately, but I still somehow managed to sneak in 4, and then when he found them and laughed about it, emptying his pockets, it just meant that I could sneak in 3 more.
Unfortunately, after this, he was privvy to my antics so I needed to find a new target. There was a boy sitting beside him too, who I'd exchanged maybe five words with in the entire academic year. He has an attendance of 37%, and it's important that you remember this, because it's a source for many jokes later on in this story.
I managed to sneak seven pebbles into his hoodie, before he realised what I was doing too and moved his hood away.
By this point in time, I had an accomplice to my crimes, one of my best friends who decided that this was a worthy way to pass her time too. By the time my two victims had the sense to become more aware of their surroundings, it was time for us to board the bus back to school. Me and my friends collected rocks in our hands to take on the bus, putting multiple in our pockets.
Here, it was necessary that I choose a seat right behind them, and it was only my luck that they bote decided to sit together (Well, my first victim was GOING to sit behind but then moved a seat ahead after he saw me sit behind him, with a 'Nahhh no way bro, you're going to bully me again'). After everyone had taken their seats though, I moved into the seat right behind him anyway with my friend.
This is why he decided to sit in the gap between his seat and the seat in front of him, keeping his hoodie hidden from me on the other side. This did mean, thankfully enough, that me arguing with him had my second victim completely distracted, allowing me to sneak ELEVEN rocks into his hoodie from my pockets.
He finally noticed when he went to put his hood up to cover his ears from the win on the moving bus, only to have rocks fall onto his ears and shoulders instead. It was very funny.
This is also when my other friend moved to the seat to the left of where me and my friend were sitting, to sit on her boyfriend's lap, and in front of another boy who was indeed very easy to terrorise. She silently asked for some rocks from me, and when I gave her 3, she handed them to her boyfriend who put them inside the shirt of the boy in front of them, who was already sitting in a very cramped way because he was sharing a seat meant for one person with another boy. After this incident, he decided to just turn around, and seat on the backrest of the seat in front of him, keeping his feet on his former seat instead.
To make things simpler, let's call my first victim AJ and my second victim AA. I don't know if this makes things simpler actually. We'll call my accomplice A, my other friend M and her boyfriend S. The boy in front of them, we'll call MM.
See, S had just finished a waffle while we were on the way to the bus from the sports ground, and he still had a sticky wrapper folded carefully in his bag. It wasn't long before A and I ran out of rocks, either missing the hoodies and pockets of our victims, or being caught and having the rocks shaken out on the floor of the bus anyway.
(The last few rocks, M and S tried to convince me to throw on the helmets of people riding their bikes next to us, but I would not be taking that rick anytime soon.)
Everyone was already laughing, although AA did look slightly terrified of me, and to keep up the challenge, I asked S for the waffle wrapper he had in his hands now. My original plan was to tear it, but upon noticing that there was still food on the inside, I scrapped it anyway. Of course, S decides to tear off a clean portion and give it to me anyway, and I manage to sneak into AA's hoodie finally, and A decides to move it to the inside of his jacket instead.
We are not caught but AJ has now found some rocks that fell on the seat next to him, and hands me and A one each. On A's attempt to sneak it into AA's hoodie, however, she's caught and he moves it away again, effectively ending our game.
A pulls out some leather-y material from under our seats on the bus, and tears them out in pieces and hands half of them to me to put in AA's hair. He does shake them out at first, but when everyone around us joins in, he just gives up and lets us bury the material under his carefully set hair.
This is when AJ gets out his water bottle, and the chaos truly starts.
He puts some water into the cap and manages to put it into AA's hair, but most of it spills anyway, falling onto the both of their laps. If they had left it at these few splashes of water, it would have been, but MM decides to fuel the fire by announcing to the bus of 6th, 11th, and 12th graders that they've both peed their pants, making all of us around him burst out laughing.
The boy beside him also makes a few comments that I will not be repeating online, mostly because they involve some very crude comments about how they could've done something innapropariate when there's children on the bus.
AA obviously tries to retaliate by opening his entire water bottle, but the moving bus causes the water to spill behind on A instead of AJ who was initially targetted.
This motivates me to give AJ what I call my arthritis bottle (because it is always extremely heavy as a result of the massive amount of water it can store). And he uncorks it immediately to pour over AA, who moves his hand away, causing the water to spill over both of them , the unsuspecting 12 year old in front of them, and the floor of the bus.
And this point, the back of the bus is in a state of complete chaos, with everyone laughing their heart out (or shouting about how they peed themselves, in MM's case). This is when we finally reach school, and AA stands up with a horrified look in his eyes, with his hair completely wet, messed up, and with pieces of some mystery leather substance in it. He gets up, and I remember to remind him to check inside his jacket for a belgian waffle wrapper and he takes off his jacket, terrified, faster than I've ever seen anyone, and breatehs a sigh of relief when nothing falls out, thinking I've bluffed him. That is when the sixth grader ahead of him pulls something off the back of his T-shirt, and hands it to him, unfortunately it seemed like a bit of the sticky substance was left on the wrapper after all. And the jokes finally start about how he's going to submit his leave form tomorrow only, and how this is the reaosn he never shows up to school anyway.
Now, reader, I know this seems really mean as I'm writing it, but I swear, they were having a lot of fun too, laughing and cracking jokes the whole time. Situations like these are NOT new for our class, and I swear it was all in good fun.
In the chaos of it all, I managed to sneak two rocks into AJ's jacket hood anyway, without him noticing until he was about to leave to go home, at which point I finally asked him to check his hoodie properly. He finally admitted defeat, before going home.
We did have a sociology class after we came back, though, and we were supposed to have an extra class, but our antics on the sport sground and the bus meant we were exhausted, and finally just begged the teacher to cancel it, which she thankfully agreed to.
I think that's where I'm going to end for today.
I didn't lie when I said that a LOT has happened since my last entry, but this was a long story that required a large amount of my time, so the rest will just have to be saved for another time, I'm afraid.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day, and your favourite person gets you some flowers, and you get to listen to your favourite song again.
Love from Skye <3
P.S.- it's almsot been a year since I started this website anyway, and that's so insane to me? Especially considering that I have, like, 5 posts on it oof.
